Dr. Smith Rosebud Salve

I recently bought this rosebud salve.:) This product was established for more than a hundred years and yet it’s still the best seller and favorites of some celebrities, beauty editors, models, and beauty conscious people. Is it as good as they claim? There's no doubt that this multi-purpose product works well in several ways. As I was reading the info about this product it says that this cult-favorite, multi-purpose lip balm soothes dry lips, calms and heals irritation, and soothes the sting of minor burns. Try dabbing on dry elbows or knees to condition, and relieve dryness, it’s also an excellent remedy for the treatment of diaper rash. And I also discovered that I can use it on my cheeks and brow bones lightly for a soft glow, as well as using it as anti-frizz agent in my hair, and a brow tamer to use with my brow brush. I love the vintage look of it’s packaging, the simplicity of the old fashioned product, the pink color and the rose scent of it. It’s also an amazing treatment for anyone who wants to improve the look and feel of their hands. For a single tin, it can do several things to me. This mild formula contains essential oils that soothes and heals. It works well on my lips somewhat giving it a soft, supple, slightly rose-scented and slightly tinted look.:) I highly recommend this product to everyone. You can’t go wrong with this salve. Well worth the money.:)

Happy Chinese New Year!!!!:)

Chinese New Year falls on the first day of the lunar calendar, the month after the end of Winter. And each year, new years falls on different date so there's no specific day for chinese new year.

Here's an interesting facts of the chinese beliefs and practices:

Clearing Of Debts
-To start off the new year good, old debts are often cleared before Lunar New Year, to avoid shame and misfortune.

Spring Cleaning
-Spring cleaning is held before New Year's Day, to sweep away all the misfortune. This way, the New Year is welcomed with a clean start.

Red Packets
-The best part of Chinese New Year for the children is to receive traditional gifts of money, wrapped up in a red packet called hong bao, from their parents and elderly married persons. The amount in the packet should be an even number, to be lucky and auspicious. Children are expected to accept red packets graciously, with customary good wishes. It is bad manners to open red packets in the presence of others.

Round Fruits
-There should be at least 12 different round fruits on the table

Fireworks
-The fireworks is to scare away all evil spirits and misfortunes, preventing them from coming into the new year.

Dragon Dance
-It is a symbol of strength, goodness, and good luck, and supernatural forces.

Red Clothing
- Color red is commonly worn throughout the Chinese New Year because it is believed that red will scare away evil spirits and bad fortune. In addition, people typically wear new clothes from head to toe to symbolize a new beginning in the new year.

Shou Sui
-It occurs when members of the family gather around throughout the night after the reunion dinner and reminisce about the year that has passed while welcoming the year that has arrived. Some believe that children who Shou Sui will increase the longevity of the parents.

Niangao or Chinese New Year Cake(Tikoy)
-It is considered good luck to eat nian gao during chinese new year because "nian gao" is a homonym for "every year higher and higher."

Counting Money
-It is believed by some chinese that counting the money repeatedly during Chinese New year can bring good fortune.

Good luck:

-Opening windows or doors is considered to bring in the good luck of the new year.
-Switching on the lights for the night is considered good luck to 'scare away' ghosts and spirits of misfortune that may compromise the luck and fortune of the new year.
-Sweets are eaten to ensure the consumer a "sweet" year.
-It is important to have the house completely clean from top to bottom before New Year's Day for good luck in the coming year.
-Some believe that what happens on the first day of the new year reflects the rest of the year to come. Chinese people will often gamble at the beginning of the year, hoping to get luck and prosperity.
-Wearing a new pair of slippers that is bought before the new year, because it means to step on the people who gossip about you.
-The night before the new year, bathe yourself in pomelo leaves and some say that you will be healthy for the rest of the new year.
-Changing different things in the house such as blankets, clothes, mattress covers etc. is also a well respected tradition in terms of cleaning the house in preparation for the new year.

Bad luck:

-Buying a pair of shoes is considered bad luck among some Chinese. The character for "shoe" is a homophone for the character, which means "rough" in Cantonese; in Mandarin it is also a homophone for the character for "evil".
-Getting a hair-cut in the first lunar month puts a curse on maternal uncles. Therefore, people get a hair-cut before the New Year's Eve.
-Washing your hair is also considered to be washing away one's own luck (although modern hygienic concerns take precedence over this tradition)
-Sweeping the floor is usually forbidden on the first day, as it will sweep away the good fortune and luck for the new year.
-Saying words like "finished" and "gone" is inauspicious on the New Year, so sometimes people would avoid these words by saying "I have completed eating my meal" rather than say "I have finished my meal."
-Talking about death is inappropriate for the first few days of Chinese New Year, as it is considered inauspicious.
-Buying (or reading) books is bad luck because the character for "book" is a homonym to the character for "lose".
-Avoid clothes in black and white, as black is a symbol of bad luck, and white is a traditional Chinese funeral colour.
-Foul language is inappropriate during the Chinese New Year.
-Offering anything in fours, as the number four, pronounced sì, can sound like "death", pronounced sĭ, in Chinese. Pronunciations given here are for Mandarin, but the two words are also near-homophones in Cantonese.

Bloom Eye Paint

I was at Shangrila last week when I saw that Beauty Bar is having a Marked Down Sale. After browsing for a short period of time, I saw this eye paint...Original Price was more than 500php but I bought it for only 308php. I chose the mauve because I don’t have that color yet for an eyeshadow. So I tried it the next day, and I was so amazed with this product because a little of it goes a long way for me. It’s a cream type and set to a shimmering powder finish. I love the metallic color of it, not too bold and it’s so natural. It is highly pigmented and has amazing staying power so need to apply every now and then. It is smooth and easy to apply. Can be applied using fingertips or eyeshadow brush. I’m planning to purchase all the colors available..Love it!

Dilemma!!!!!

I’m in a state of dilemma!!!! I love the MAC Sculpt and Shape as well as the Stila Contouring Trio. I’ve been thinking of purchasing but I don’t know which of them is better. This is my first time to learn how to contour, I learned in one of the site that gives free tutorial and after watching it, I’m so anxious to have one so I could try it on me. Contouring helps in softening the features as well as giving the illusion of having a slimmer face and sharper nose, high lightening, and enhancing the features. Having a round face, this would really help a lot.:) Feel free to leave comments for your opinion regarding this matter.:)

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

I’m planning to purchase this product because I’ve read some good reviews that it can actually dried the zits, remove acne and an excellent spot treatment. My nose is suffering with white heads that I’m looking for some effective products to help me eliminate it, and this drying lotion could actually make it vanished overnight. So, I was thinking of trying this product, maybe it would also help in reducing some of my pimples that is very hard to get rid of. $17 for a 1 oz bottle, a bit expensive, but if it would really work then I might try buying one.

My 24th Birthday.:)

Just turned 24 today. But i felt that i'm still young..*blush* *blush*. Though in my age i should act more mature..but sometimes i felt that I don't act my age. There are lots of things that i didn't enjoy when I was still a kid, lots of restrictions and mostly my time was spent on schools, tutors, and studying. It's crappy that i didn't got the chance to do everything what a normal kid should do..like watching lots of cartoon show and having the latest toys or consoles that every one of my classmates have. That when I'm starting to grow up it never fails to fascinate me when i saw some of the old toys that i want but didn't got the chance to own it. Many people were commenting and sometimes comparing me with my sister that she is more matured than me eventhough I'm 4 years older than her. I admit that when I'm starting to grow up and reached the age that i could earn my own money, i mostly spent it on consoles, games, and sometimes old toys that brings nostalgia to me. I still adore amusement parks that i always bugging my mom to take me there. I also love disney cartoons!!!! that whenever we have our family night, i would always suggest to watch cartoons...and of course they would not understand why i would chose that kind of films, i think they're expecting some kind of Cheesy Romance or Corny comedy flicks..hehe I still remembered when we went to HK disneyland, i felt that I've gone back to being a kid again and enjoying evey moment of it. And that's the reason that up to this time I'm still yearning to become a kid again, so i have the excuse to play and to act as a kid.

With this age, everybody will be expecting a lot from me. Not only in my career, but entering the marriage life as well. Lots of people were asking me when will i get married since a lot of people in my age are engaged and some were already married. It's not that i don't want to, but still there are lots of things to consider..I want my career to become successful and stable first, and to earn money so i could buy everything i want before getting married.:) As of now, I'm enjoying every moment of my life.

Glorietta Day with my Mommy.:)

Been shopping with my mom at Glorietta today. We've been looking for bargains at Marks& Spencer because they're on sale, some items were slashed down for more than 50%!!! My mom bought a new blouse for me and a cool jacket for my brother. Good thing there's a less crowd! I was expecting a very long line in the fitting room, and people crowding the sale section because that's what normally happens everytime they're on sale but amazingly only few people were there. It was fun because it's been so long since I've go out with my mom, because of her business that only mom and I could managed, we can't go out at the same time..there should be at least one of us to stay home and look after our store. It's great to once again have a bonding time with my mom..We went to starbucks and treat her a large White Chocolate Mocha Expresso and "Corned Beef Pandesal". We spent most of the time at Rustan's, i bought a badger balm headache soother at essenses.:) Love it!!! Then we went to kanebo to buy some whitening stuffs for my grandma..I also had a skin analysis there, It shows that my nose area was clogged with blackheads, but the rest of my face is perfect.:) My skin doesn't match my age, for it shows that my skin is 9 years younger..wow!!! A skin of a 15 years old!! I was astonished when i heard that!!! hehe anways, i had a lot of fun today! though it seems like an ordinary shopping day but for me it's special!!! and I'm looking forward to our next bonding time.:)

Blowfish Hobbit Boots

I’m planning to purchase these Ankle booties from Jildor.com, It’s on sale!!! Original Price is $45 then the SALE price is $33.75.:) I’ve read good reviews from a site that these booties are very comfy to wear, it’s a Rubber Sole with a Cushioned Footbed, Buttons border the outside, while a full length zipper streams up the inside of the boot making it very easy to fasten and adjust to your individual liking. It’s a good walking shoes and I just love it’s stunning features and funky designs.

Product Review: Jones Soda Co. Turkey & Gravy Lipbalm

Jones Soda Co. is known as a U.S Beverage Company that distributes soft drinks, non-carbonated beverages, energy drinks, and candy. They have been known to have carbonated drinks with unusual flavor that other soft drink companies doesn’t offer. They also come up with Non-Beverage products such as this lipbalm. It’s a limited edition that features UV-A and UV-B protection, SPF 15, Aloe Vera, and Vitamin E. I’ve been dying to get my hands on this lipbalm but unnfortunately it was too expensive, but I’m still looking for bargains. Well, as I was reading some of the reviews regarding the flavor of this balm, they say that it smells like turkey and mashed potatoes- oily, greasy, and starchy. Kinda weird for a lipbalm, but for a balm collector, it’s like winning trophy. The novelty of this product is so intriguing that it would be an excellent collection. Other available flavors are: Green Apple, Fufu Berry, Orange & Cream, Strawberry Lime, Cream Soda, and Blue Bubble Gum. Hopefully I could manage to get hold of one.

The World's Most Venomous Insect...

I'm so fascinated with insects at this moment(Thanks to my dad..:) ), that i was surfing some facts and trivias of the different species of bugs..While I was surfing, i came across to one of the site that shows the world's most venomous insect, i was thinking of some rare and exotic bugs..but it turns out that the most venomous insect is an ANT!!! To be exact it's a "Maricopa Harvester Ant". It's venom is very lethal that with an exact value of 0.12 mg/kg dosage of venom could kill at least one half of a population of Rodents! Never thought this tiny fella could be so dangerous!
