Tropical Storm "Ondoy" Strikes Manila

The typhoon "Ondoy" Struck Manila on September 26, 2009. A Storm that caused such terror and devastation in countless homes & families here in the Philippines. It was raining hard for 5 hours straight or even more that streets were soon flooded and not long after lots of areas were asking for rescue. No one expected that this storm could cause so much damage and loss, people were given a little preparation and that's why many were affected that caused them their lives. 80% of people were affected by this devastating storm, and we're not an exception to it. Even in the high places were flooded, sadly those in the lower part of the city was seen on top of their roofs waiting for the rescue team. The storm has caused the worst flooding & greatest amount of rainfall in the country in over four decades. And local news shown a lot of places that were experiencing landslides, mudslides & rockslide, some people were not immediately evacuated that many of them died and buried hundreds of homes in the northern part of Luzon.

It was raining hard continously and the time i woke up around 9am, it was already flooding our garage. We were all in a state of panic because the flood was getting higher each minute. We were so confused which we would save first, coz our house, our office, warehouse, and scrapbook store-they are all in the same place. Sadly, not all our stuff was safe and some were drown by the flood. Even our cars that was parked in a very high place was drown and was seen the next day floating. Our appliances and furnitures were all damaged by flood, even all our food were destroyed. What hit me most is my Lovebird. While we were getting our scrapbook stock upstairs, i became so busy, even our helpers as well as my parents that we didn't got the chance to checked our 20 pairs of lovebirds. By the time they went there, all of them were drown by flood. I was so devastated and cried. If only I was there, i could save them all. The most painful part, is my tamed and trained lovebird died. His name is Tweety. He was handfed and was trained by me that whenever i was near his cage he would jumped down and tried to call me so i could freed him. He would just sit on my shoulder or go to my Dad's or Brother's hair. He would never try to fly away. Whenever I'm in our dining table, i would always bring him along with me, he would try to eat my fruits and bathe in my glass of water. He loves to nibble my lips and cuddle...Just imagine the bond we have! so after learning what happened, i was just crying and felt so guilty.

A picture was taken by my mom on Sunday Morning, right after the big flood. The water had already subsided. Our house was a total disaster! Even the cage of our chiuhuahua that was left outside our house was found inside the living room. Unbelievable!

Our Scrapbook store was a total mess! Lots of designer paper were muddied & crinkled. Some of our products were starting to get rusty and other items were totally destroyed by flood. 30-35% of our scrapbook stuff will go directly to the trash.

who would have thought that the flood would reach that high. Do you see the clock that was hanging on our wall? The flood was higher than that! so basically our whole 1st floor was flooded. The flood on our garage was more than 10 feet high, it was terrible!
